The Finance Lead will assist the Chief Financial Officer in managing and supporting the financial operations of the bank, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and alignment with strategic goals.
Main responsibilities
- Prepare and review timely and accurate monthly management accounts, consolidated financial statements, and interim reports under IFRS for the bank and its subsidiaries.
- Stay updated on recent changes to tax regulations and IFRS, ensuring their effective application in financial reporting and compliance processes.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and performance summaries, providing insights into current and projected financial positions.
- Apply hands-on expertise in IFRS 9 for the preparation, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of Expected Credit Loss (ECL) models and related financial reporting requirements.
- Conduct monthly Value at Risk (VaR) assessments for all balance sheet accounts, recommending appropriate provisioning requirements.
- Manage and oversee the budgeting process, including forecasting, allocation, monitoring, and variance analysis, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and validity of financial data within the general ledger and lead processes for budgets, forecasts, and actuals.
- Prepare presentations for the Board of Directors, Board subcommittees, management committees, Bank of Mauritius, and the Annual General Meeting.
- Oversee and ensure robust controls in accounts payables and receivables, verifying compliance with the bank’s policies and frameworks.
- Perform hands-on computations for all tax-related matters under Mauritius jurisdiction, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and approve statutory and regulatory submissions, including those to the MRA and Bank of Mauritius.
- Analyse and approve expenditure within mandate, escalating deviations from policy to the CFO.
- Ensure accuracy of statutory payments through reasonability checks and transactional verifications.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, regulatory authorities, banks, and government agencies to maintain effective communication and compliance.
- Create and nurture finance partnerships while ensuring adherence to risk and compliance frameworks for all financial activities.
- Promote mandatory compliance training and maintain a strong focus on reputation and business risk management.
- Undertake any other cognate duties as required.

- Comprehensive understanding of IAS/IFRS standards, with hands-on expertise in IFRS 9 implementation.
- Proficiency in Flexcube financial systems would be an advantage
- Outstanding leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on developing and empowering team members
Experience & Qualifications
- A postgraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related field, or a recognized professional qualification.
- Fully qualified ACCA or an equivalent certification.
- At least 7 years of experience in accounting and finance, including a minimum of 3 years in the banking sector.
- Practical experience in environments requiring knowledge of procurement systems and/or frameworks
